About the Event
Join us to discuss the gutting of the Indian Child Welfare Act and how it relates to the experiences of transracial and/or transnational adoptees. Both of the facilitators, Jenny & Nathan, identify as TRA/TNA folks and have studied a bit about trans-racial and trans-national adoption but do not identify as Indigenous. Because of that fact, there are some aspects of this conversation that we may miss because we don’t have lived experience as Native folks. We are here as experts on our own lived experiences and to facilitate a conversation for other TRA/TNA folks. This two part conversation seeks to connect TRA/TNA people who want to more deeply understand the political, social, and economic ways transracial and/or transnational adoption continues to be a tool of US colonialism to a supportive, affinity space for co-learning and co-meaning-making. * This is part 2 of a 2 part conversation. We will discuss Episodes 4- the end of the season. No need to have attended the first part to attend the second part of this conversation!
