About the Event
As mixed, multiracial, and transracial adoptees, there are often narratives circulating about us, but not by us. In this experiential workshop, Lola will share some of the questions she used to create the video interviews for Within, Between, and Beyond to encourage participants to center themselves in telling their stories. Participants will interview each other and reflect on the experience. We will also discuss how a story can change over time.
Lola Osunkoya is a licensed psychotherapist and owner of the counseling practice, Neither/Both LLC. Lola has created and facilitated racial identity-based content for local and national education, media, and community development platforms. As an emerging artist, Lola uses writing and multimedia art to explore themes of identity, bringing theoretical concepts about race to mainstream art and conversations. Most recently she served as the lead interviewer in collaboration with Leslie Barlow and Ryan Stopera for the multimedia exhibition, Within, Between, and Beyond. Healing from the damaging impact of racism is a central theme of her work.
