About the Event
The Here, We Are creative series is back!
Join us on Friday, February 22nd 6:30-9:30pm for our first Here, We Are event of 2019!
We are excited to collaborate with the Twin Cities Indigenous People & People of Color Figure Drawing & Painting Group to sponsor a special MidWest Mixed iteration, featuring models who identify as mixed race. This event is completely open drawing/painting/making, meaning there are limited instructions and people are free to use the creative time as they see fit. Event themes include acceptance, celebration, and our bodies are beautiful.
The Twin Cities Indigenous People & People of Color Figure Drawing & Painting Group gathers monthly to bring together artists of color and Indigenous artists to practice figure drawing in community with one another, to celebrate our aesthetics, styles, forms, figures and features as IPOC.
The true cost of Here, We Are events is $20 per attendee. To keep our events open and accessible for all, any donations are valued and appreciated. As a part of our sponsorship for this event, MidWest Mixed works to cover the fees to make this event possible.
- NOTE: Figure models are nude, this event is 18+.
- This is dedicated space for people who identify as Black, POC, Indigenous, mixed race.
- We will have some paper and drawing materials available, but we encourage folks to bring whatever materials they’d like to make with during their time.
- Space is limited. Make sure to reserve your spot!
- Donations also accepted on site
Here, We Are is a series of creative workshops that build community and engage with themes of identity centering mixed race, multiracial, and transracial adoptee experiences. The content generated in these workshops have the opportunity to be shared at the 2019 MidWest Mixed Conference. MidWest Mixed believes arts engagement enriches conversations about identity by encouraging creative modes of reflection, strengthening community relationships, and providing space for brave sharing.
